In the realm of dreams, there she was, my额吉, the matriarch of my heart, with her laughter echoing like the sound of peals of thunder across the prairie. She was there, in that ethereal space where dreams and reality bl, and it was as if time itself had paused just to allow me to bask in her presence.
You see,额吉 wasn't just my grandmother; she was the keeper of secrets, the ler of tales, and the heart of o little clan. She had this way about her, you know? It was like she could see right through you, but with those twinkling eyes and a twinkle in her step, it felt like a warm hug rather than an intrusion.
I remember one dream, it was so vivid, it felt like I'd lived it a thousand times before.额吉 was in the kitchen, her back to me as she stirred a pot of stew, the steam rising like a waltz of oke fairies. I could almost ell the rich aroma of onions and beef, the kind that made yo stomach rumble even in yo sleep.
"Ah, you're here," she said, not tning around, just feeling my presence. "I was just thinking about yo grandpa's old stories. Do yoemember how he used to say that life was like a good stew, full of ups and downs but always sory at the end?"
I chuckled, the sound echoing in the dream space. "Yeah,额吉, I remember. And you always had the best recipes, didn't you?"
She let out a hearty laugh that was music to my ears. "Haha, maybe not the best, but they were mine, and they made o family happy."
As the dream unwound, I felt a pang of longing. I missed those times, when额吉 would pull me close and l me stories that would keep me up at night, her vo a lullaby that I didn't want to end.
Now, let me share with you a little snippet of that dream, a moment that feels like a tiny piece of gold in my memory jar.
In the dream,额吉 was sitting on the porch swing, her legs ling, her eyes squinting against the setting sun. She looked up at me and said, "You know, sometimes, life can be a real pain in the neck, but just like this swing, it's all about how you sway."
I iled, even in the dream, and replied, "Yeah,额吉, and if we don't keep swaying, we might just get stuck in one place."
She nodded, her face lighting up with that same twinkle I remembered so well. "Exactly, and remember, whether you're on a swing or in life, always find a reason to laugh. It's the best medicine, you know?"
And with that, the dream faded, but the laughter lingered, a sweet reminder of the wisdom and love that came wrapped in the warm embrace of my额吉.
